The doctrinal dialogue in the Holy Qur’an between the Prophet (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace) and the polytheists: an analytical study

Abstract

This research examines and analyzes the doctrinal dialogue between the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and the polytheists, focusing on three main themes: monotheism, prophecy, and the afterlife. It has been shown that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) adopted a dialectical dialogue method based on rational persuasion and Quranic exposition, confronting polytheism by demonstrating its falsehood Idolatry, and he proved the prophecy through evidence of revelation and miracles, and confirmed the resurrection by invoking God’s power in the first creation as proof of the resurrection. The research also showed that the Prophet (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace) did not limit himself to the response, but rather presented a comprehensive faith alternative that addresses the roots of the intellectual deviation of the polytheists, and thus the research contributes to understanding the nature of the discourse The Prophet's message and its impact on establishing the Islamic faith, highlighting the methodological characteristics that distinguished the Qur'anic dialogues in this area                   

Research question: How did the Prophet (peace and blessings of God be upon him and his family) employ doctrinal dialogue with the polytheists to prove the issues of monotheism, prophethood, and the afterlife, and what are the most prominent Qur’anic methods he relied on in this argument                                  

 Research Methodology: The researcher used the analytical method: studying the Qur’anic texts related to the Prophet’s dialogues with the polytheists and analyzing their argumentative structure, the comparative method, comparing the positions of the polytheists and the responses of the Prophet (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace), and the historical method, tracing the contexts of revelation to understand the dimensions of the dialogue                     

What the research achieved: It revealed the dialectical structure of the Prophet's dialogues with polytheists, clarified the status of monotheism, prophecy, and resurrection as doctrinal pillars, and highlighted the overlap between rational proof and the Qur'anic text in the Prophet's discourse
