The spiritual and social objectives of the Arbaeen pilgrimage in light of the Holy Qur’an and the Noble Sunnah: An analytical study

Abstract

The research dealt with the study and analysis of religious rituals in Shiite Islam through the model of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, considering it a comprehensive ritual that establishes multiple spiritual and social perceptions In the first section, the conceptual and theoretical framework was built By tracing the Qur’anic verses related to the concepts of piety of hearts, affection and kinship, sanctities, and selection, then following the specific and general narratives that legislated and emphasized the revival of rituals, which established a legal and moral background for this visit In the second section, the spiritual and social objectives achieved by the Arbaeen visit were reviewed. The first section focused on renewing the pledge of allegiance and purity as spiritual landmarks achieved in the visitor’s path, while the second section reviewed the spiritual effects learned from the narrations related to the virtue of the visit. As for the section The third and fourth chapters focused on social aspects, both in terms of the value concept and the narrative connotations that establish the bonds of the nation, strengthen the unity of the Shiite ranks, and deepen the sense of belonging to the lineage of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
