These crimes have become increasingly complex due to the use of advanced technology and encryption This requires specialized skills to extract data from computers, smartphones, and the digital cloud, while ensuring that evidence is preserved to be legally admissible. This investigation plays a pivotal role in proving crimes by tracking digital activities, recovering deleted files, and analyzing big data, which contributes to identifying perpetrators. Uncovering their motives and providing evidence before the courts, especially in light of the rapid development of technology and the proliferation of digital currencies and social media, makes digital forensics an essential tool for combating modern crimes and ensuring justice.

Digital investigations in Iraq face legal challenges, as legislators need to adopt modern technological standards to update the criminal justice system, as evidenced by comparative analyses of digital evidence. International cooperation in building digital investigation capabilities has improved data management and addressed criminal challenges in Iraq, making it a potential model for other investigations. Digital investigations have become essential in 90% of criminal cases in Iraq due to the proliferation of digital evidence, thus enhancing the effectiveness of investigations against cybercrimes.
