The Leadership Personality and Its Relationship to Cognitive Flexibility among Drama Directors

Abstract

This study aims to explore the levels of leadership personality and its relationship with cognitive flexibility among drama directors in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It also seeks to identify significant differences in leadership personality and cognitive flexibility based on demographic variables (geographical location, age, and educational attainment), and to examine the correlation between the two main variables: leadership personality and cognitive flexibility.

      The researchers employed a descriptive-correlational method. The study sample consisted of 200 drama directors selected from three provinces in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, and Duhok). Two standardized instruments were used: one to measure leadership personality and the other to measure cognitive flexibility. Each instrument, in its final form, comprised 30 items. The validity and reliability of both instruments were verified using appropriate statistical methods.

Statistical analysis conducted via SPSS revealed that drama directors across the three provinces exhibit clear characteristics of leadership personality and cognitive flexibility. The findings also indicated statistically significant differences in both leadership personality and cognitive flexibility attributed to the variable of educational attainment. Furthermore, a statistically significant positive correlation was found between leadership personality and cognitive flexibility.

In light of these findings, the researchers proposed a set of recommendations for relevant authorities, as well as suggestions for future researchers to broaden the scope of inquiry in this field.
