Abstract

Abstract: Islamic law has given great importance to the family, making the preservation of lineage a necessary objective for the flourishing of the earth and the preservation of life. With the health and social changes of the modern age, the issue of family planning has emerged as a jurisprudential matter requiring a precise distinction between permissible and prohibited methods of family planning. The problem addressed in this research lies in clarifying the precise legal position on the motives for family planning and its modern and traditional methods, and in answering the questions related to the extent of its permissibility in light of texts that call for increasing the Muslim population, and balancing this with the objectives that call for the quality and strength of offspring to protect them from weakness and loss. Hence, this research, entitled "Family Planning: Its Motives, Methods, and Ruling in Islamic Law," presents a balanced jurisprudential study that combines tradition and modernity. Therefore, our research, entitled "Family Planning: Its Motives, Methods, and Ruling in Islamic Law," aims to outline a balanced approach that combines the constants of religion with the demands of reality. The research is divided into three sections; The first section addresses the concept of family planning, its objectives, and the importance of procreation in Islam. The second section reviews the history of family planning in early Islam, explaining its motivations and main methods. The third section is dedicated to presenting the opinions of scholars, both past and present. It includes the majority view, followed by the view of Ibn Hazm and his supporters, then the most sound opinion supported by evidence. The section concludes with contemporary views on family planning. This work aims to present a comprehensive Islamic legal perspective, and the most significant findings of the study are summarized in the conclusion.
