Abstract

There is no doubt that technological development in the field of information has become an undeniable reality in the present time. Technological means of development, including social media platforms, have become modern technologies in the world of communication between individuals and societies, making the world a small village through which individuals in different countries can communicate easily and conveniently, exchange opinions and information, and have provided freedom and ample space for individuals to express their opinions and ideas without restrictions. However, at the same time, it has become one of the tools and means that can be used to commit various crimes, due to the technologies it provides that assist criminals in carrying out their criminal behaviors

Some have exploited these technologies for purposes that violate public morals and ethics, which necessitates awareness of its danger to individuals and societies in general. Furthermore, actions that fall under the concept of spreading vice and moral corruption are condemned by all religions and secular laws due to their negative effects that threaten the fabric of society. Although most legislations agree on criminalizing behaviors that promote vice in society, the majority of these texts address the traditional forms of this crime without considering the methods that have accompanied technological development, which have significantly contributed to the expansion of this type of crime, including the crime of promoting immorality and debauchery in the information sphere. This renders these texts insufficient to encompass this type of development This calls for drawing the attention of the legislator and amending the penal texts to be in line with these developments in order to address these emerging crimes, protect society from their effects, and confront their perpetrators.
