Abstract

The construction of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile raises a lot of controversy in political circles because it greatly affects the water security of downstream countries, especially Egypt, which has greatly reflected on the Egyptian policy towards Ethiopia. The research attempts to focus on the Renaissance Dam project and its associated development projects, as well as the size and form of internal and external support and financing in the construction of the Renaissance Dam and its impact on Egypt's water and national security  The dispute over the dam has led to persistent tension in Egyptian-Ethiopian relations; Ethiopia regards the dam as a sovereign right, while Egypt insists on a binding legal agreement that guarantees its historical share of the Nile waters and prevents potential harm during drought periods.
