Theodor Herzl, his life and activities in the Zionist movement 1860-1904

Abstract

Theodor Herzl is one of the most prominent Jewish figures in the world who played a prominent and pivotal role in the existence of the Zionist movement and the attempt to find international support for it and activate Jewish immigration to the land of Palestine. The research entitled: (Theodor Herzl, his life and activity in the Zionist movement 1860-1904) dealt with his life, upbringing, studies, cultural activity, the development of his ideas and early Zionist activity, as his intellectual sources, journalistic work and the development of the Zionist idea were addressed. As well as his efforts to establish a national homeland for the Jews in Palestine through his relations and communication with heads of state and leaders in Europe, in addition to his persistent efforts to convince the Ottoman Sultan to establish a national homeland for the Jews in Palestine, as well as the Zionist conferences and his pivotal role in them, in addition to the most important decisions that were taken in these conferences.

Herzl made strenuous efforts and used Jewish money to hold meetings with world leaders of the time, such as the German Emperor and the Ottoman Sultan, and tried to convince them of the necessity of establishing a national homeland for the Jews in Palestine. Holding Zionist conferences was part of the plan Herzl laid out in his book "The Jewish State." He exerted great efforts in organizing them and issuing important decisions that shaped the Zionist state.
