Abstract

The research addresses (the role of great religious authorities in confronting doctrinal deviations and intellectual trends)

 It highlights the role of Iraqi scholars in confronting religious deviations and intellectual trends in the modern era, and examines the methods and means they use to achieve this. The research also presents a future vision for the role of scholars in preserving the Islamic identity of Iraq, protecting society from misguided ideas, spreading true Islam based on Qur’anic teachings and the noble Sunnah of the Prophet, calling for Islamic unity and rejecting division and division, and dialogue between different Islamic sects in order to bring viewpoints closer together and strengthen Understanding and dialogue between different religions and cultures in order to spread a culture of peace and tolerance.However, scholars have criticized some Wahhabi ideas and practices, such as warning against takfir and emphasizing that only God Almighty knows who is an infidel and who is a believer. Scholars call for moderation in religion, and warn against extremism and fanaticism. The scholars forbid violence and terrorism. The research deals with an explanation of the role of Iraqi scholars, who are Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Abu Qasim Al-Khoei, Sayyed Muhammad Saeed Al-Hakim, Sayyed Ali Al-Husseini Al-Sistani, Sheikh Ishaq Al-Fayyad, and Sheikh Bashir Al-Najafi, from their birth, teachers, most famous students, and their writings, and their confrontation with the infidel sects, and the ways and means of this interview, and examples of These interviews are of the aforementioned scholars with takfiri groups, and a statement of the scholars’ opinion in confronting these takfiri (Wahhabi) movements. Zionism), the fatwas issued by scholars against Wahhabism and Zionism, their speeches and positions against these movements and trends, and examples of scholars’ debates with major Wahhabis and Zionists. The research reaches a conclusion and highlights the most prominent results and recommendations
