Abstract

Grammarians have paid close attention to the particle "ma" and its nominal and particle forms due to the necessity of distinguishing between them and its direct impact on inflection, meaning, and grammatical rules. Furthermore, it is a governing element in many grammatical rules and structures; it is not merely a passing word but a pivotal tool that intersects with most areas of grammar. Moreover, studying it is a prerequisite for understanding and correctly applying grammatical rules. The research was divided into an introduction and two sections: the first was entitled “Types of Nominal Ma” and the second was entitled “Types of Particle Ma,” as well as a conclusion and a list of the most important sources and references, including: Al-Kitab by Sibawayh, Al-Muqtadab by Al-Mubarrad, Al-Usul by Ibn Al-Sarraj, as well as books on letters, including: Ma’ani Al-Huruf by Al-Rumani and Al-Azhiyya by Al-Harawi, as well as books of commentaries, including Sharh Al-Jumal by Al-Zajjaji and Sharh Al-Mufassal by Ibn Ya’ish.
