A Critical Approach to Kant’s Philosophy of Freedom and Will

Abstract

Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher who was famous for being critically rationalist. Freedom and will played pivotal role in his philosophy .

                           This study aims to analyze Kant’s concepts on freedom and will through a critical approach that uncovers the foundations of his view and tests how consistent it is, as well as how well it handles the struggle between natural evitability and moral freedom .

An essential finding is that freedom remains core issue in philosophy. No matter how it is defined, freedom continues to be seen as main concept in thinking about human nature—whether it’s seen as a moral dimension (Kant), as creativity and self-overcoming (Nietzsche), or as material liberation shaped by economic structures (Marx) .

                           Inspite of the many criticisms  directed to Kant’s work, his project remains a milestone in understanding freedom. He laid the groundwork for seeing freedom as a personal moral responsibility, making his ideas an essential starting point for any later philosophical discussion .

The study recommends reviewing Kant’s project in light of today’s changes in philosophy and the social sciences, and avoiding the narrow school-style approach that separates freedom as a purely moral issue from its real-world conditions .
