Abstract

The writer, poet, and diplomat Dr. Ghazi Abdulrahman Al-Qusaibi is regarded as one of the most prominent Arab literary figures of the modern era. His novel A Love Story represents a distinctive narrative contribution to his creative oeuvre; therefore, it has been selected as the subject of this study, which seeks to examine the effectiveness of character portrayal within it. Following the theoretical framework, the research focuses on three main axes: first, types of characters; second, character description; and third, character dimensions. The study reveals the dualities of love and death, and of truth and illusion, and demonstrates how the author portrays the psychological and philosophical dimensions of human life in moments of final farewell, while highlighting the use of a satirical narrative style in the dialogic interactions among the characters.
