Abstract

This research examines the educational and legal dimensions and standards inspired by the historic and timeless testament of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, to his son, Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon them both). The research stems from a fundamental problem: the ambiguity or weakness in the practical guidance for applying the jurisprudential and legal principles derived from religious texts to contemporary educational curricula, and the possibility of utilizing them to build a balanced and well-rounded Islamic generation.

The researchers adopted an analytical-deductive approach and divided the study into two main sections:

The first section: Theoretical and Introductory Framework. This section addresses the linguistic and terminological concepts of education. Linguistically, education is defined as growth, increase, and improvement, while technically, it is the gradual development of something to its full potential, nurturing the physical, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of the individual. This section also clarifies the objectives of education in Islam, which are to achieve comprehensive worship and cultivate the righteous and faithful individual. This research compares Islamic education, based on three pillars (faith in God, constants, and emulation), with contemporary secular education, which suffers from duality and behavioral crises. The researchers also dedicate a significant section to explaining the principles of educational deduction from religious texts within Imami jurisprudence, such as relying on authentic texts, considering the objectives of Islamic law, and employing disciplined reasoning.

The second section: Educational Standards of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). This section focuses on extracting behavioral and ethical applications from his will as fundamental standards for self-development and purification. Among the most prominent of these standards are:

1. Asceticism: This represents a profound state emanating from within a person's conscience through self-discipline and abstaining from forbidden things, and is not merely an outward appearance.

2. Piety: The Imam considers piety to be among the highest stations, the noblest goals, and the essence of sound faith. It serves as a secure fortress for the believer against being drawn into sin. 3. Cultivating the Heart: This involves purifying the heart (which represents a precious jewel) from the affliction of worldly desires and attachment to material things, and constantly cultivating it through remembrance of God and companionship with those of intellect and knowledge.

4. Holding Fast to the Rope of God: This is embodied in adhering to the Holy Quran and the Ahlul-Bayt (peace be upon them), as they are the intermediary between heaven and earth. This achieves spiritual balance, unity, and salvation from the trials of our time. The research concludes by presenting a comprehensive methodological vision that highlights the civilizational superiority of the Islamic educational system and provides those interested and decision-makers with a practical guide for preparing a generation that worships God with insight and faces the challenges of the age with steadfastness.
