This study addresses the news coverage of reconstruction and housing issues on Al-Iraqiya Satellite Channel, stemming from the growing importance of these topics, especially in light of the country’s recent extensive reconstruction and development campaigns. The research aims to shed light on how the channel handles these vital developmental issues, which attract the attention of both the public and decision-makers.
The research problem is framed by the main question: What is the nature of the news treatment of reconstruction and housing topics on Al-Iraqiya Satellite Channel? This is a descriptive study based on the survey method in both its descriptive and analytical dimensions. The researcher employed content analysis to examine Al-Iraqiya News Channel's bulletins during the period from October 1 to December 31, 2024, in order to obtain the required findings.
The research objectives included identifying the reconstruction and housing topics covered in the news bulletins, examining the types and methods of news treatment used by the channel, monitoring the news frames, determining the news genres, and uncovering the airtime allocated for these topics.
The study yielded several key findings, most notably:
- Al-Iraqiya Channel showed clear interest in the category of "traffic congestion relief projects," which ranked highest among the covered topics.
- The channel predominantly adopted an explanatory-analytical approach in presenting reconstruction and housing issues.
- A noticeable reliance on the use of statistics was observed in the bulletins.
- The news coverage tone was generally positive and aligned with government directions.
