Using the narrations of Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, in understanding the Qur’anic text - the Prophet’s biography as a model

Abstract

      It is certain to most researchers that Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, followed a clear intellectual approach that attracted the scholars of the nation and the students of knowledge who studied under him and graduated from his school. This approach is to adopt the Qur’anic text and interpret it with a scientific and historical interpretation. He used to link the historical event with the Qur’anic text to give an interpretive image based on scientific reality far from fanaticism and tendencies. His goal in doing so was to address the historical problems that occurred in the narrations of the Prophet’s biography, to come up with a scientific analysis according to the Qur’anic concepts. Therefore, Islamic writings were filled with his narrations that were used to understand the Qur’anic texts. Therefore, this research addressed some of the problems mentioned in the books of hadith and interpretation related to the biography of the Prophet by referring them to the Qur’anic text and the Imam’s scientific interpretation of them. The research tackles  two important topics, which are:

The first discusses the use of his narrations, peace be upon him, in understanding the events of the era of the Islamic message, while the second topic discusses the position of Imam al-Sadiq, peace be upon him, on the prophetic hadiths that contradict the Qur’anic text, and ways to analyze and address them.
