Abstract

This study examines the role of Imam al-Kadhim (peace be upon him) as one of the most prominent religious leaders who faced injustice and tyranny under the Abbasid rule, which was characterized by a period of political oppression and major social challenges. The study focuses on analyzing the policy of patience and peaceful resistance that the Imam adopted as a non-violent means of confronting tyranny, reflecting his unique strategies in confronting authority without resorting to force, while highlighting its intellectual, social and political dimensions. The study sheds light on the political and social context in which Imam al-Kadhim lived, as the Abbasid state practiced oppressive methods to ensure absolute control, which created an environment full of challenges for the followers of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). In this context, Imam al-Kadhim emerged as a wise leadership figure who used the approach of patience to deal with these challenges, not only as a personal strategy, but also as a means of inspiring society and establishing moral and religious values. The research addresses the different stages of Imam al-Kadhim's life, starting from his assumption of the imamate, through his positions towards the Abbasid authority, and up to the imprisonment that he suffered for many years. The research shows that the Imam was not just a spiritual leader, but a social and political leader who set a model for how to confront oppression and tyranny in peaceful ways, reflecting the importance of his role in preserving the unity of the Islamic nation and enhancing social and religious awareness. The study relies on a descriptive analytical approach, based on reliable historical sources that dealt with the life of Imam al-Kadhim, with a focus on analyzing the texts that document his political and social positions. The research also focuses on the impact of this policy on Islamic society in his era and on the development of Islamic thought later. The results indicate that Imam al-Kadhim's policy was not just a method of resistance, but rather a comprehensive intellectual and social project aimed at achieving justice, establishing religious values, and enhancing societal stability.
