The Symbolism of the Political Slogan in the Discourse of the Husseini Revolution An Analytical Study of the Discourses on the Karbala Incident

Abstract

This research studies and analyzes the most prominent political speeches and slogans raised by Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, and his supporters who participated with him in the Karbala incident in the year 61 AH. The research aims to analyze the discourse of the Husseini revolution from new starting points and to reach different results, in addition to revealing the most prominent theses and values ​​contained in those slogans and determining their symbolic political and religious connotations.

The research - which is one of the descriptive research - used the survey method and the method of discourse analysis according to the methods of critical discourse analysis to analyze the speeches of the leaders of the revolution, and the researcher deliberately selected a specific set of words and excerpts that he said or wrote or represented by Imam Hussein and his companions (peace be upon them), during the incident of tuff, and the focus was on choosing a deliberate sample of (30) slogans distributed as follows:  (16) slogans of Imam Hussein, (5) slogans of his family, and (9) slogans of his companions.

The research concluded with several results, the most important of which are:

1.The rhetorical actor in the incident of kindness presented his ideas, positions and messages through multiple theses that included various dimensions of the Husseini Renaissance and focused on its philosophy and value dimensions, and the most prominent of those theses are: Sacrifice for the sake of principle, freedom and freedom from worldly restrictions, steadfastness and non-surrender to enemies, is one of the highest goals for which a person can sacrifice himself.

2.The slogans of tuff worked to explain the features of the Islamic leadership and the definition of the causes of the Husseini revolution and its motives, and expose the Umayyad rule and expose its political approach, in addition to affirming the lofty human values such as freedom and rejection of injustice.

3.The slogans of Imam Hussein and his family and companions (peace be upon them) carried many implicit meanings and future messages, as they were not limited to one category without another or to a specific generation, but expanded to include all subsequent generations, and the most prominent of those messages: Rejection of any political path - along the human march - leads to humiliation, humiliation, surrender and subservience to the oppressors.
