Abstract

This research deals with the concept of grammatical notification according to Abu Hayyan in his encyclopedic book (Al-Tadheel wa Al-Takmil), describing notification as an implicit meaning that is understood from the context or structure without verbal statement, and this meaning may have a clear effect in directing the grammatical ruling.Abu Hayyan showed a precise critical attention to this concept, as he did not pass by a phrase without examining what he might have thought of as a signal that might violate the rule or lead to a mistake in understanding.Through this, his penetrating semantic awareness emerged, which made him invest in the concept of notification as a tool for editing and revision, revealing with it the illusory meanings and examining the texts from the additions, distinguishing with his precise intuition between the apparent meaning of the word and what it might suggest of deviant meanings or unsound possibilities. This is evident in his many objections, such as his denial of the expressions that suggest the permissibility of placing the subject of “na’ma” in the genitive case with the preposition “ba’”.Or his rejection of the inaccurate enumeration of sentences that have no syntactic position, and thus Abu Hayyan proves his leadership in employing grammatical sensation as an analytical and critical tool, adding a new dimension to the study of grammatical structure and revealing the depth of his approach to examining texts and controlling meanings.
