Abstract

This research examines the treatment of political issues in television interviews and its role in enhancing public awareness in light of the rapid developments in the media and its growing influence on shaping public opinion. The study aims to identify the nature of the media treatment adopted by television interviews in addressing political issues, the extent of their commitment to professional standards, and to measure their impact on raising the level of political awareness among the audience.

The research adopts the descriptive-analytical approach, through the content analysis of a sample of political television interviews, in addition to the use of a questionnaire to measure audience opinions regarding the extent to which they are influenced by such programs. The findings revealed that television interviews constitute an important source of political information and contribute significantly to enhancing public awareness, especially when they are characterized by objectivity and balance in presentation.

The results also showed that the style of moderating the dialogue, the nature of the questions, and the diversity of guests are key factors influencing the quality of media treatment and the level of its impact. On the other hand, the findings revealed the presence of certain shortcomings, such as bias or media sensationalism, which may lead to a distortion of the audience’s understanding.

The study concluded that improving the performance of television interviews and adhering to professional standards would enhance their educational and awareness-raising role, and contribute to building a mature political consciousness capable of dealing with various issues objectively. The research also recommended the need to develop media discourse and promote a culture of critical thinking among the audience in order to ensure the maximum benefit from this type of program in serving society.
