Abstract

This study highlights the challenges and barriers faced by special education teachers while teaching and interacting with children with special needs in primary schools, which directly impact the students' academic and behavioral performance.

Objective: The research aimed to identify the problems encountered by teachers based on variables such as (gender, years of service, and geographic location). The researchers employed a Descriptive Approach due to its suitability for the nature of the study.

Methodology & Tools: A random sample of (38) special education teachers was selected from Sulaymaniyah Governorate and its surrounding areas. The researchers developed a specific scale for challenges consisting of (56) items. After ensuring high levels of Validity, Reliability, and discriminative power, the questionnaire was administered.

Key Findings:

·         There were statistically significant differences in all five domains of the research.

·         The level of perception and awareness regarding the challenges was high among the teachers.

·         No significant differences were found among teachers based on gender, geographic location, or years of service.

﷒        Conclusion: Finally, the study proposed a set of scientific recommendations and suggestions to improve the relationship between (home and family, school, and special education teachers) to ensure the efficiency and success of the educational process.
