Abstract

Presupposition is considered one of the fundamental pillars of understanding meaning. This concept is built on the premise that every speech act carries within it a background of information and a set of prior beliefs that the speaker accepts as established facts, directing the message to the receiver based on those foundations. Accordingly, this study attempts to demonstrate the practical application of this theory by examining the main political headlines in (Evro) newspaper during January and February 2015. The primary focus of these headlines revolves around the themes of the "Region and Iraq," representing a rich environment for producing various types of presuppositions in political and media discourse. The objective is to illustrate how political content implicitly implants information in the receiver's mind without direct reference. Presupposition is utilized here as a "strategic" tool to establish certain political facts during the period of the war against ISIS and the financial crisis.
