The linguistic interpretation of Quranic readings of verbs is one of the fundamental topics in Quranic studies, as it significantly contributes to understanding and interpreting the Quranic texts through linguistic and grammatical analysis. This research aims to study the linguistic interpretation of Quranic verbs as presented in the Tafseer of Imam Al-Hakami, one of the prominent scholars in this field. The study focuses on examining Al-Hakami’s methodology in interpreting Quranic verbs and analyzing them from syntactical, morphological, and semantic perspectives, while highlighting the impact of these readings on the interpretation and understanding of the Quran.
The research relies on a descriptive-analytical approach, tracking Al-Hakami’s views on the linguistic interpretation of Quranic verbs and presenting them based on scientific and methodological foundations. The study addresses several issues from Al-Hakami’s Tafseer, such as the verb "Yahsiban" and "Tahsiban" in the context of the difference between direct address and third-person reference, as well as the verbs "Turjaoon" and "Tarjaoon" in the context of active and passive voice. The research also explores the verbs "Liyasou" and "Liyasou" and their implications related to plural and singular forms of third-person reference and the majestic plural.
The study shows that Al-Hakami did not prefer one reading over another, but instead presented them together, reflecting an objective approach to handling multiple Quranic readings. This approach enhances the flexibility of Quranic understanding, allowing the reader to choose the reading that fits the cognitive or rhetorical context. The research further indicates that the linguistic diversity in Quranic readings reflects the richness of rhetorical and linguistic styles in the Quran, facilitating a broader and deeper interpretation of meanings. Through this research, the role of scholars in serving the Quran and providing linguistic guidance that contributes to achieving a precise understanding of Quranic verses is emphasized.
