Meanings of “perhaps” in the Qur’anic text (Surat Al-Baqarah as an example)

Abstract

This research, entitled (The Meanings of La'alla in Surat Al-Baqarah), addresses all the meanings and connotations that can be interpreted in the context of the Qur'anic text for the meaning of La'alla as a particle that indicates hope and anticipation of the occurrence of an event, and everything that this meaning can lead to from synonyms of everything that falls within the shadows of the meaning of hope. It also provides the meaning of the tool that can be sought in the form of a high probability of occurrence. The research also focused on the aspect of the special meanings of this letter as it appears in Surat Al-Baqarah, that is, what is evident in the meanings of guidance, piety, remembrance, and other meanings that appear in this surah. This is because we perceive a changing meaning every time the meaning of (La'alla) is used, as understood and defined in the context of the Qur'anic text. This is what the research focuses on, through precisely defining the meaning that can be related to its mention of the meaning of the tool. The importance of the research is evident in focusing on these meanings and studying them from a semantic perspective that reflects the characteristic of textual miraculousness and adds the intended meaning of the meaning of this letter in every position it occurs. This is a broad topic that can be addressed to seek the connection between the characteristic of miraculousness and what the grammatical meaning of the tool can add, and expands the set of grammatical rhetorical possibilities that reveal the characteristic of apparent miraculousness in every textual usage in the Qur’anic text. On the other hand, the nature of the approach in this research focuses on every meaning that the literal meaning of “perhaps” can add, whether in the context of gratitude, remembrance, or piety. We may find the meaning of the tool’s employment in different places, which makes it necessary to pay attention to the connection of its meaning to the divine wisdom that God Almighty has approved. This is because approaching it from this perspective makes focusing on separating one meaning from another a necessity that must be paid attention to.
