Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, praise that equals His countless blessings. Peace and blessings be upon the Seal of the Prophets and Messengers, Muhammad ibn Abdullah, and upon his pure and noble family.
To proceed:
The issue of phonetic disagreement in general is considered one of the fundamental topics in Arabic phonetic studies. Such disagreements help in tracing the development of linguistic sounds across different eras, which leads to a deeper understanding of the meanings and characteristics of sounds.
The sound of Alif is among those sounds whose articulation point has been disputed by scholars. Therefore, this research focuses on observing the differences between classical scholars and modern linguists regarding the determination of the articulation point of the sound Alif. It became evident that there is a clear variation in opinions between them.
The study required an introduction and two main sections. In the introduction, the concept of phonetic articulation was discussed both linguistically and technically, as well as the differences in determining the number of articulation points of sounds.
The first section addresses the articulation point of Alif according to classical scholars, while the second section discusses the articulation point of Alif according to modern linguists.
I have spared no effort and overlooked no opportunity in pursuing this research. I do not claim perfection; rather, I have strived to the best of my ability. If I have succeeded, it is by the grace and guidance of Allah; and if I have erred, it is from myself..
