Mechanisms for Iraqi security media to confront inappropriate digital content and limit its spread on social media (TikTok as a model)

Abstract

The controversy has been raging for several months regarding the campaign launched by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior against the creators of vulgar content, as the phenomenon of vulgarity and the decline in public taste and morals has spread widely through digital content on social media sites recently, which necessitated the intervention of the Security Media Cell to limit that. The research relied on the descriptive study within the survey method, using the questionnaire tool after designing it according to the research questions and objectives to obtain information and data that enable the diagnosis of the phenomenon, distributed over a non-probability (intentional) sample using the comprehensive census method of workers in security media at the Ministry of Interior in order to answer the main question: What are the mechanisms for Iraqi security media to confront low-quality digital content to limit its spread on social media (Tik Tok as a model). The research relied on the questionnaire as a tool for collecting information and data, and it was distributed to the research sample, which numbered (40) security personnel. The research reached several conclusions, the most important of which are: The security media mechanisms used are preventive and seek to protect the public from negative behaviors by taking preventive measures to intellectually protect society from wrong phenomena, including the spread of low-quality digital content makers, and working to limit their follow-up and not support them due to the danger of the spread of such content in our ancient societies. One of the most prominent tasks that the Security Media Cell seeks to achieve is providing sufficient information to the media and informing opinion. The year is updated on security developments first-hand with the aim of combating negative phenomena, combating rumors, and preserving public taste from vulgar content represented by false messages that offend modesty and destabilize society. The sources that the security media relies on to uncover vulgar digital content are websites. Social media, as these sites represent a fragile environment available to anyone who wants to spread out, not limited by censorship, which has led to the transformation of these pages into mini-media platforms through which any content is published and broadcast without taking into account ethical and societal controls.
