Abstract

In our research, we address the study of Iraqi scientific missions during the era of Iraqi President Abdul Salam Aref (1963-1966), and the study revolves around how to organize the transmission of scientific missions abroad and the extent of their contribution to strengthening Iraqi cultural relations with Europe and the development of higher education 

The importance of the study: The importance of this historical era, as it is a detailed stage in the political and social history of Iraq, as it witnessed significant changes that directly affected educational and scientific policies, including sending scientific missions to Europe and their role in the construction of educational cadres

Study objectives: A statement of the impact of missions in developing higher education in Iraq and the extent of their contribution to the establishment and development of academic institutions and the provision of qualified academic staff within the scientific and social disciplines and benefit from them to build a strong scientific and technical base in Iraq, as well as explore the social and intellectual influences created by scholarships returning from Europe in academic institutions

Study steps: The study relied on the quantitative curriculum such as questionnaires and statistics to study the subject of missions objectively and collect sources from the initial data from the published and unpublished documents, and on enhancing cultural cooperation within the field of education with European countries

The results of the study: We also reached in our research a set of results, the most prominent of which is the strengthening of cultural relations with Europe and the obtaining of many Iraqi students in the higher academic certificates
