This study aims to examine the presence of the learned woman in Al-Andalus during the fifth to seventh centuries AH, and to explore the nature of her participation in cultural life as well as the manifestations of this presence in literary texts and biographical works. The research addresses a central scholarly problem represented by the limited number of studies that combine historical documentation with literary analysis in dealing with the image of the Andalusian learned woman, as most previous studies have relied on partial or single-dimension approaches. To achieve the objectives of the study, a qualitative integrative methodology was adopted, combining the historical-descriptive method to trace the roles of learned women in education and knowledge transmission, with the literary analytical method to examine their representations in poetic and prose texts as well as in biographical literature. The findings reveal that the learned woman was an active contributor to Andalusian cultural life and played a significant role in the production and transmission of knowledge. Her presence was not confined to the social sphere but was clearly reflected in literary discourse, which portrayed her through multiple images, such as a transmitter of knowledge, a participant in cultural gatherings, and a symbolic embodiment of learning and intellectual values. The study further demonstrates that these representations carry cultural, social, and cognitive implications that reflect the status of the learned woman within Andalusian society. The study concludes that re-reading literary texts and biographical works from a cultural perspective contributes to highlighting the cognitive role of women and restores recognition of their position in Andalusian civilization.
