This study aims to analyze the verbal structure in the articles of the (Israeli) writer Ben Caspit, with a focus on the functional role of verbs in political articles. The verb is considered a fundamental component in the Hebrew language, as it expresses an event tied to a specific time and is characterized by a diversity of patterns (binyanim) that determine its grammatical and morphological meaning.
The study concluded that the past tense dominates the use of verbs in the articles, aiming to convey events in a confirmatory and assertive tone. In contrast, the present tense is employed to add vitality and dynamism to the text. It was also found that the writer heavily relies on active voice verbs to present his ideas directly and decisively, which aligns with his clear and impactful journalistic style. The results reveal that the selection of verbal patterns and tenses contributes significantly to shaping the writer's perspective and enhances reader engagement with the text.
