Abstract

Historical facts and events played an important role in the culture of the poet Mahyar al-Daylami, which varied in its times and places. Moreover, the poet had a detailed knowledge of the details of those events, as he absorbed history and melted it into his mind and poured it into a poetic mold from which he benefited from the lesson and consideration and invested it in service of his poetic purposes. Arabic poetry was one of the most important elements that shaped his culture, as he was familiar with the poetry of poets who preceded his era, from the pre-Islamic and Islamic (Umayyad and Abbasid) periods, as he included the idea, meaning, and word

After examining the references from facts and events in the poetry of Mahyar al-Daylami, we must reap the fruits of this examination by showing those references that enriched the Mahyari text and helped in forming its output. Therefore, we can say that the historical references from facts and events were a stage for the experience of the Mahyari poet, from which the poet selects what he sees as appropriate to enrich his poetic visions that draw the horizons of the present that the poet lived through, and his future visions by reviving the past in a transformative way, which is done through shyness and representation of what history contains of vital data that enriches the present with profound goodness. Because poetry is a response dictated by emotion to a subject, Mahyar invested the contents of his historical memory in the creative process. Every reference in it to a meaning from history, whether it was to people, lineages, or events, was a provocative reference to the human debate that lies in the past and the interaction in the present. Thus, history formed a source and a main pillar of Mahyar’s culture, and this was reflected in his poems. The presence of these references was an intensive presence that enriched the idea and recorded the image, by involving the historical pattern in the folds of his creative text, and then transferring it from the past historical existence to the cultural existence that the poet lives..
