The research focuses on the news coverage of the Iraqi affair on UTV satellite channel - an analytical study of the main news bulletins for the period from 10/1/2024 to 12/1/2024. The problem of our current research lies in posing a main question: (What is the nature of the news coverage of the Iraqi affair on UTV satellite channel?). From this main question, several sub-questions branch out to cover all aspects of the research. The research seeks to achieve a set of objectives that can be summarized as follows: To understand the nature of news coverage of Iraqi affairs on UTV satellite channel, as well as to identify news of Iraqi affairs in the news bulletins under analysis, in addition to identifying the news sources that the channel under study relied on when covering Iraqi affairs, as well as identifying the most prominent types of news coverage accompanying Iraqi affairs, and revealing the television editorial arts accompanying news of Iraqi affairs.
This research belongs to the type of descriptive research that is based on describing the phenomenon under investigation in an accurate description and identifying its elements and the relationships that link it to other phenomena, relying on the survey method with its descriptive and analytical aspects.
The research relied on a content analysis form as a tool for collecting and analyzing information and data.
UTV satellite channel is the general field of research, while the news bulletins that the researcher analyzed are the original community of research, The researcher used the method of partial comprehensive enumeration of the news content presented by the channel’s main bulletins for the period from (10/1/2024 to 12/1/2024), as the total number of news related to the Iraqi affair reached (212) news that were subjected to the analytical study, and thus the total number of bulletins that were subjected to analysis was (61) detailed news bulletins that were presented at exactly eight o’clock Baghdad time.
The research reached a number of results, the most prominent of which are:
Security news ranked first with (52) repetitions, and a percentage of (24.52%), while religious news ranked second with (46) repetitions, and a percentage of (21.70%), while political news ranked third with (44) repetitions, and a percentage of (20.57%), In fourth place came service news with (32) repetitions, and a percentage of (15.10%), and in fifth place came economic news with (20) repetitions, and a percentage of (80.50%), and in sixth and last place came health news with (18) repetitions, and a percentage of (9.43%).
