Abstract

The aim of the research is scientific, tracing the meaning of the word from the time of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, and how the Arabs used it in the past, how its meaning developed, and what changes occurred to it.

          You will find that many words have undergone semantic changes over the past ages, and this is a common thing in all languages. Semantic development is only one aspect of the broad development of language that affects all its elements, its sounds, its connotations, and its meanings, and they change with the passage of time. Some words develop their meanings with the passage of time.

The importance of the subject lies in the fact that the prophetic hadith follows the word of God Almighty in terms of citation, eloquence, and clarity, and examining the semantic development in it is extremely important. The research method is the analytical and descriptive method, which consists of analyzing the words of the prophetic hadiths and the context of their meanings between the ancient and the modern.
