Abstract

This study addresses two main topics: the definition of Kurdish folk tales and Kurdish artistic tales.

Folk tales are an important part of people's heritage. They reflect daily life, traditions, beliefs, and experiences of individuals in a simple and functional manner. These stories have been passed down orally from generation to generation. Often, these tales carry moral and educational messages and embody the social and cultural values, and they are the identity of nations.

Artistic tales represent a more complex form of narrative that generally emphasizes building story genres within an artistic frame, utilizing various literary techniques. Artistic tales focus on emotions and thoughts, and they address social and psychological topics through creativity and investigation.

This study, using an analytical and descriptive methodology, concludes that artistic tales emerged as a new and foreign literary genre within Kurdish literature. Essentially, artistic tales are European art and have spread globally. Meanwhile, folk tales evolved naturally with the existence of humans and everyday life experiences. Both types play an essential role in fostering social awareness. Furthermore, this study highlights that rather than a strict separation between the two forms, there is a growing tendency to explore the interaction between traditional heritage and modernity.
