The Infallible's Impact on the Interpretation of the Holy Qur'an: An Applied Study of the Interpretation of Imam al-Baqir, peace be upon him

Abstract

The Holy Qur'an is considered the primary source of Islamic law, and it is the only book whose chain of transmission is definitive. The entire Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) have shown great interest and diligent efforts in interpreting the words of God Almighty. Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him) was one of the imams who showed this great interest in the science of interpretation and explaining the secrets of the Holy Qur'an. This study examines the interpretive influence of Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him). The study begins with a general introduction to the science of interpretation. The first section discusses infallibility and the status of the infallible in Islamic thought. The researcher then moves on to study interpretation in the school of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). In the second section, the researcher examines Imam al-Baqir's (peace be upon him) methodology for approaching and interpreting the Qur'anic text. The researcher then presents examples of verses from the Holy Qur'an and Imam al-Baqir's (peace be upon him) interpretations of them. The study concludes with a conclusion that includes the most important findings reached by the researcher, along with a list of sources and references.
