This research explores the Qur’anic miraculous description of human embryonic development, combining a theological and scientific perspective to uncover the precision of divine expression in describing the stages of human creation and its remarkable harmony with modern embryological discoveries.

The study is grounded in a core Qur’anic objective ﴿maqṣid﴾—to affirm faith in the Almighty Creator and His infinite wisdom—by highlighting an aspect of the Qur’an’s scientific inimitability that bears witness to its divine origin. The Qur’an presented these descriptions in a timeless, eloquent, and accurate manner long before the rise of modern science.

The research examines the stages of human creation as mentioned in the Qur’an—beginning with dust ﴿turāb﴾, then the drop of fluid ﴿nuṭfah﴾, the clinging substance ﴿‘alaqah﴾, and the chewed-like mass ﴿muḍghah﴾—and traces the miraculous precision of these terms through linguistic, exegetical, and medical analysis.

It also reviews the approaches of classical and contemporary scholars in interpreting these verses, distinguishing between linguistic exegesis ﴿tafsīr bayānī﴾ and scientific exegesis ﴿tafsīr i‘jāzī﴾, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the Qur’anic text and the primacy of its spiritual intent over mere empirical correspondence.
