"The Effectiveness of Qur’anic Discourse in Social Regulation and Prevention of Deviance: An Interpretive Approach"

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the Qur’anic discourse in social control and the prevention of deviance through an interpretive and educational approach. The Qur’an is not merely a recited text but a comprehensive framework that guides human behavior and enhances social balance and stability by building self-regulation and moral conscience, based on the belief that God observes the individual.

The Qur’anic discourse employs a variety of methods, including encouragement and warning, parables, and storytelling, enabling it to address behavioral and intellectual deviations, both preventively and remedially. It links ethical values with social cohesion to achieve societal reform, grounded in Qur’anic and Prophetic principles, such as the verse:
﴿Indeed, Allah commands justice, good conduct, and giving to relatives, and forbids immorality, bad conduct, and oppression…﴾ [An-Nahl: 90]

The study emphasizes the importance of an interpretive reading of the Qur’an in the face of contemporary challenges, aiming to activate its role in reforming individuals and society, and building a cohesive community based on faith and ethical values.
