Sense of academic mastery and its relationship to Self-organized learning among university students

Abstract

The current research aims to identify:

1- Sense of academic mastery among university students.

2- The statistically difference in sense of academic mastery according to gender (males, females) and academic branch (scientific, human).

3- Self-organized learning among university students.

4- The statistically difference in self-organized learning according to gender (males, females) and academic branch (scientific, human).

5- The correlation between sense of academic mastery and self-organized learning among university students.

The total research community amounted to (25625) male and female students for the academic year (2024-2025). The research sample consisted of (378) male and female students from the Colleges of University of Babylon selected randomly. To achieve the research aims, the researcher adopted the Porter et al. (2020) scale for sense of academic mastery, which consisted of (20) items, and Madeed (2020) scale for self-organized learning, which consisted of (20). The research results that there are sense of academic mastery, there are no statistical difference at (0.05) level according to gender and academic branch in sense of academic mastery, there are self-organized learning, there are no statistical difference at (0.05) level according to gender and academic branch in self-organized learning, and there are correlation between sense of academic mastery and self-organized learning among university students. In light of these results, the researcher put a number of recommendations and suggestions.
