Abstract

The aim of this research was to identify the role of self-efficacy in developing job performance among secondary school teachers and to investigate the differences between the opinions of the sample (secondary school teachers) regarding the role of self-efficacy in developing their job performance. Self-efficacy is one of the pivotal psychological and administrative concepts directly related to an individual's effectiveness in the work environment. It expresses an employee's confidence in his or her ability to efficiently complete tasks and achieve the required goals. Bandura's theory asserts that an individual's perception of his or her self-efficacy constitutes a decisive factor in the level of effort exerted, his or her ability to persevere, and his or her ability to withstand pressures and challenges. The importance of self-efficacy in enhancing job performance is evident in several dimensions. It contributes to increasing internal motivation, making employees more determined to achieve. It also fosters a spirit of initiative and the ability to face difficult situations with determination. Furthermore, it enhances work quality and encourages the search for innovative solutions, which positively impacts the achievement of individual and organizational goals. The close relationship between self-efficacy and job performance is highlighted by the fact that employees with high self-efficacy are more capable of continuous learning and adapting to changing work environments. They also contribute to creating an organizational culture based on achievement. To develop this competency, organizations resort to various strategies, including training and development programs, providing positive feedback, empowerment through granting authority, providing role models, and motivational programs that enhance a sense of accomplishment. Thus, it can be said that self-efficacy represents a fundamental driver for improving job performance, raising productivity, and fostering organizational loyalty. It is not limited to an individual perception of ability; it transforms into an influential force in organizational excellence and sustainable success. To achieve the research objectives, the descriptive approach was used. The researcher relied on a questionnaire consisting of (23) items, which was distributed to a sample of (152) male and female secondary school teachers in the city of (Balad). The results showed that the role of self-efficacy in developing job performance among secondary school teachers was moderate. The results also showed differences between the sample individuals' means according to the gender variable, in favor of female teachers; academic qualification, in favor of postgraduate studies; and educational level, in favor of secondary school. However, there were no differences between the sample individuals' means according to the years of experience variable.
