Moderation in Islam and its impact in dealing with extremism and fanaticism

Abstract

Islam is a religion of moderation and moderation, and it is not one of its method of extremism, exaggeration and transgression of borders. The Holy Qur’an has included a number of blessed verses that stated or included the meaning of moderation, as well as the purified Sunnah in which many texts were mentioned in this topic.

The research consists of a preliminary and two researches, followed by a conclusion, with the most important results that were revealed through the research.

The first topic was devoted to the study of moderation in the Holy Qur’an, while the second topic included the study of the aspects of moderation in the honorable year, and the second topic reads the conclusion that included the scientific results that were reached through the research, and then a list of the names of sources that were used in writing the research.

The study proved that moderation in Islam encompasses all aspects of life, including religious, economic, social, and other aspects. The stance of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) towards extremists and their disavowal of them has a profound impact in depriving them of their legitimacy and exposing their deviation from Islam. The study proved that extremists and those behind extremist movements have a great influence on young people, which is why Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) warned against them. Therefore, it is necessary to educate Muslim youth and spread awareness among them, so that they do not fall prey to these deviant ideas. It is the responsibility of the scholars of the nation to confront extremist ideas, demonstrate their invalidity, and respond to the doubts and fallacies of skeptics.
