Cultural References of Place in the Tainted Al-Mashubat Poetry

Abstract

This study deals with the cultural references of Place in the poetry of the poets classified within tainted poetry (Al-Mashubat Poetry), the label given by Abu Zaid Al-Qurashi to a group of veteran poets, which is the sixth class in his book Jamharat Ash'ar Al-Arab.

Place occupied a large space in the poetry of those poets, because of the connotations it revealed in the souls of those poets, who expressed through it what was in their hearts of perceptions towards the events that were happening around them that were related to Place. So time for them turned into the rich source that provided them with the main material for the text, while the use of Place came for them as an essential element in the construction of the Arabic poem, and Place gained great importance for the poets, for its being as an essential element in the formation of poetic images.

Upon research, it was confirmed that the place has very important symbols in the poetry of the owners of the mashubat, as it indicates that the poets suffered from a difficult life that exhausted them, and this is certain because the environment in which they lived was a harsh desert environment, and leaving them on long journeys made them feel the loneliness of the places, which formed a painful psychological aspect for them and produced images in which they describe the bitterness of the places.
