Fatimid State Embassies to the Maghreb (358-567AH/968-1171AD)

Abstract

Our study in this topic focuses on addressing the most important diplomatic aspects that are evidence of the progress that the Fatimid state knew in Egypt, which is the aspect related to building relations with other countries by sending embassies to neighboring regions to establish good relations. Our study clarified the identification of the most important embassies that the Fatimid state established to the Maghreb countries, which was the first political center for the Fatimids before their move to Egypt. The research dealt with the Fatimid Zirid embassies during the reign of Caliph Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah, the Fatimid embassies during the reign of Caliph Al-Aziz li-Din Allah, and the Fatimid embassies to the Maghreb countries during the reign of Caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah. The researcher relied on the inductive approach of the sources to know the extent of the Fatimids' interest in establishing foreign relations with other countries by sending embassies, as these relations are considered one of the most important foundations that help stabilize the country politically, economically and socially.
