The educational objectives of the Holy Qur’an in Sayyid Tabataba’i’s interpretation of Al-Mizan: an analytical study

Abstract

Sayyid Muhammad Husayn al-Tabatabai is one of the most famous contemporary interpreters. His interpretation, al-Mizan, is distinguished from his peers by its unique style and approach and the methodology and direction he adopted during the interpretive process. One of the most prominent aspects of his interpretive research is his interest in the aims and purposes, especially the diverse educational aims and topics of the Holy Qur’an, which received great attention by clarifying the verses and surahs independently in their contents and aims.

Allamah Tabatabai clarified the educational objectives of the Quranic verses and surahs during the interpretive process. The interpreter's interest in the diverse educational objectives with the diverse topics of the Holy Quran. Arriving at the educational objectives of the Quran according to the Mizan interpretation and clarifying the educational manifestations of these objectives. Uncovering the meanings of the Quranic verses through the interpretive process and arriving at their objectives and implications. Clarifying the spiritual, practical, and moral educational manifestations according to the Mizan interpretation that the researcher arrived at. These educational objectives have been referred to by Al-Tabatabai in the verses of the Qur’an, and through these references, the educational manifestations of these objectives became clear. After defining the educational objectives as spiritual, practical, and moral according to the interpretation of Al-Mizan, it becomes clear to us that the interpreter is interested in the educational objectives mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, and clarifies the educational manifestations that the interpreter referred to during the interpretive process. Here lies the discussion of the educational objectives according to the interpretation of Al-Mizan.
