The duality of life and death in Ayman Al-Atoum's poetry

Abstract

The duality of life and death in Ayman Al-Atoum's poetry formeda prominent and broad place in his poetic texts, as this duality was an important refuge for expressing the feelings of loss and longing that he experienced. His words intertwined with the meanings of pain and regret resulting from the absence of loved ones, which made him express his suffering in a deep and honest way. Through this duality, the poet tried to show the extent of the impact of death on his life, and how the absence of loved ones leaves a great void in the soul. Al-Atoum used this duality as a means of communicating with the recipient, inviting him to be a witness to his pain and suffering, as well as feelings of fear and anxiety from separation intertwined with the poet's desire to continue, whether it was separation from loved ones or a stage of life, which creates a deep emotional tension embodied in his words, poetic images, and poetic creativity. The research addressed this duality by exploring the meanings of life and death in language and terminology, in addition to reviewing poetic evidence that reflects the depth of the feelings and emotions associated with them.
