Analyzing the sixth-grade science textbook’s content using systemic thinking skills

Abstract

Abstract:

 The current research aims to analyze the content of the biology book for the fourth scientific grade - the biological branch, according to the skills of systemic thinking for the academic year (2020-2021). In order to achieve the goal of the research, the researcher built a list of systems thinking skills that should be included in the biology book for the fourth scientific grade, and after reviewing a group of previous studies and researches, where the list consisted of (4) main skill and (12) sub-skills, and after presenting the list to a group From experts and confirm their psychometric properties, the list has come to its final form

Then the researcher analyzed the content of the biology book in light of the list that he built and included analyzing the content of the biology book for the fourth scientific grade - the biological section by (192) pages. It adopted the paragraph and the idea unit of analysis and repetition unit for the census. And its validity was confirmed by presenting it to a group of arbitrators and confirming its validity. The analysis was calculated using (Holisti) equation in agreement with external analysts and with the researcher herself. After performing statistical treatment of the data using frequencies and percentages, we obtained the following results:

 - The skill of perception of systemic relations came first, as it got (159) a percentage frequency(38% ).

 - The skill of systems analysis came in second place, as it got (132) repeatedly with a percentage (32% ).

 - The skill of installing the systems came in third place, as it got (69) repeatedly, with a percentage of( 17% ).

 - The skill of evaluating the systems came in fourth place, as it got (54) repeatedly with a percentage ( 13% ).

In light of the results, the researcher recommended some recommendations.
