Abstract

This research aims to study the significance of the repetition of the morphological structures of the triliteral verbs in some examples in the Holy Quran, focusing on the two forms (fa'ala) with a fatha on the 'ayn and (fa'ila) with a kasra on the 'ayn. This is to reveal the rhetorical and aesthetic connotations that this repetition confers in different Quranic contexts. This is done by relying on the descriptive-analytical approach of tracing the instances in which these two forms are repeated and analyzing them in their specific contexts. The study was able to arrive at the fact that the repetition of the form (fa'ala) serves to confirm the realization of the action and the stability of its occurrence, as is clearly evident in the scene of the theft of the light of the hypocrites in Surat Al-Baqarah, where the verbs "dhahaba" and "tarak" are repeated. Meanwhile, the repetition of the form (fa'ila) carries connotations specific to fullness, realization, and accomplishment, as appears in the verbs of drinking in the story of Saul, testimony in Surat Al-An'am, and work in Surat Al-Imran. Hence, this repetition was not random, but rather intentional and studied to serve the meaning and general context of the Qur’anic verses, as it contributes to building a coherent semantic system, enhances the internal rhythm of the text, and consolidates the meanings in the mind of the recipient. The study also reveals the depth of the Qur’anic linguistic choice, as the morphological structure cooperates with the lexical root to provide a rich and influential meaning, which highlights an aspect of the rhetorical miracle in the Holy Qur’an, and confirms that every letter, word, and morphological formula comes in its appropriate place with precision and accuracy.
