Abstract

This research aims to identify the knowledge gap among the University of Mosul’s (UoM) faculties specialized in principles of Islamic Jurisprudence. The research population consisted of 14 faculties (professors, assistant Professors, lecturers) - 2024/2025 academic year. The research sample included 10 Professors and assistant Professors.

To achieve the objective, the researcher developed a test on the principles-based concepts, which included three questions of ten items. The test was validated by experts and judges. Then, the tool was applied to a pilot sample of 5 faculties of the said specialization at Imam Azam University on 10/10/2024. After ensuring the psychometric properties, the tool was applied to the main research sample at UoM on 5/12/2024.

The collected data were analyzed using statistical tools - Excel and SPSS, revealing the following results: 1. UoM faculties exhibited a knowledge gap in the principles-based concepts. 2. The researcher attributes the gap to namely the lack of emphasis on the practical aspects compared to the theoretical.

The researcher concluded incorrect pathways in acquiring and understanding knowledge for this group.

He recommends incorporating activities in curricula to align theory with practice.

He suggests conducting studies on the knowledge gap in jurisprudential concepts among faculties at Iraqi universities.
