Trial of Hadith and Historical Narrations - Narrations of the Polygamy of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) as a Model

Abstract

The condition of authentic hadiths in accepting historical reports that do not affect the faith and the Sharia is a great injustice, and the danger resulting from it is not insignificant, because the historical accounts recorded by our historian predecessors were not treated as hadiths, but were treated leniently. If we reject their approach, the empty circles in our history will represent a deep chasm between us and our past, which generates confusion, loss, fragmentation and disconnection. The approach of the hadith scholars remains in criticizing the chains of transmission of historical accounts, which leads to weighing between conflicting accounts. It is also a good aid in accepting or rejecting some disturbed or deviant texts from the general framework of history, and we try to combine them with other accounts that are more reliable in their chains of transmission, in order to build the correct historical picture. As well as standing on the details of the study with its parts and wholes to reach the desired results and goals, the scientific methodology that the researcher will follow is through choosing the method of the analytical and critical approach to the narrations, as through this method the texts will be analyzed and extrapolated and compared with the correct and common from the predecessors and the moderns. The method used in the historical criticism approach is the scientific method based on two processes, namely the external criticism of the author and the internal criticism of the narration and its methods and the statement of its acceptability and rejection according to evidence and indications. His criticism of the hadith and historical sources and narrations that are the subject of our research is one of the features of the historical approach that is necessary, with a focus on an analytical tool in an objective and accurate manner for examination in a neutral manner far from fanaticism and tendencies. First, we must mention the reasons that made us delve into the topics and take their rugged path. One of the first reasons that prompted us to choose the title of our research is to remove what was attached to the biography of Imam al-Hassan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) from the lies of the fabricators and historians of the authority, which is the least that can be offered to his noble person, and also because defending Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon him) is the duty of every Muslim, each according to his position and ability.
