The secret organizations of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the Badinan region in general, and the Amedi (Amêdî) area in particular, were active and dynamic after the defeat of the 1961–1975 revolution. However, during the years (1980–1991), these movements and activities became greater and more widespread, and they played an influential role in supporting the revolution as well as the Peshmerga. This support included logistical, military (weapons), material, and moral assistance, as well as food supplies and medical necessities, etc. They also guided the Peshmerga into the heart of enemy territory to carry out military operations against the institutions and apparatuses of the Baath regime. They also distributed the Party’s political leaflets in public places, and overall this played a positive role in raising public awareness of national consciousness and encouraging people to express dissent and participate in demonstrations against Baathist oppression.
