Abstract

This research examines the impact of the Iranian nuclear program and its repercussions on US-Iranian relations, considering various subjective and objective factors that govern the development of this program and its impact on those relations. It analyzes the various theoretical frameworks and intellectual orientations that control it, as well as the possibilities of Iranian hegemony based on Iran's desire to form a nuclear power that would reshape the regional order in the Middle East by developing its nuclear program after the lifting of sanctions. This coincided with the United States engaging in a long series of negotiations on one hand, and imposing strict sanctions on the other, which led to significant damage to the Iranian economy and its foreign relations. All of this forced Iran to hold further negotiations to get rid of these sanctions and submit to the final nuclear agreement with all its conditions. The study methodology relies on a scientific framework, utilizing several methodologies and theoretical frameworks to arrive at scientific solutions to the research problem. Therefore, the study will be approached through the historical method, which will be used to identify the historical phases of US-Iranian relations in light of the Iranian nuclear program and its repercussions on the Gulf regional system. The analytical method will also be employed, analyzing the various positions of states regarding this Iranian nuclear crisis and studying them in depth, as well as their implications for the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. Finally, the descriptive method will be used. Describing the true nature of the various aspects of this crisis, the research is divided into four main sections, along with a summary, introduction, conclusion, and footnotes. The first section deals with the historical theoretical framework of American-Iranian relations, the second section deals with the impact of the Iranian nuclear program on American-Iranian relations, and the third section deals with the impact of the nuclear agreement and the American withdrawal.
