Abstract

The collection "The Park of the Absent" addresses the theme of dystopia by depicting a world dominated by absence, emptiness, and existential fragmentation, where feelings of isolation and detachment from reality prevail. The text reflects a bleak, symbolic reality characterized by anxiety and uncertainty, where humans are depicted as mere alienated beings lacking identity in a space devoid of meaning. Dystopia emerges in this collection not through direct images of violence or destruction, but rather through a growing sense of loss and erasure, whether at the level of the self, memory, or the relationship to time and place. The characters appear pale, without clear features or names, reinforcing the idea of objectification and marginalization. Language also plays a fundamental role in establishing the nightmarish atmosphere, laden with ambiguous symbols and connotations, reflecting an internal turmoil consistent with the disturbed external landscape. The collection thus presents an existential dystopian vision, expressing a world suffering from a disruption of values, the collapse of meanings, and the erosion of the bonds between humans and the world, in a space filled with only traces of absence and a constant sense of non-belonging.
