Abstract

After reading and analyzing the book "Al-Muhassal fi Sharh al-Mufassal" the study came to a few conclusions. Here's a quick summary:

Regarding words with multiple meanings: The study showed that the author, al-Lawraqi, paid close attention to this idea in a practical way. Even though he never used a specific term for it, the way he presented different meanings for the same word and discussed them shows that he understood and accepted the concept. This reveals he had a deep awareness of word meanings.

Regarding synonyms: The research found that al-Lawraqi was clearly a believer in synonyms. He used words with similar meanings to explain ideas and make them easier for the reader to grasp. In doing this, he was following many earlier scholars who also used synonyms in their work without officially naming the concept. This shows he was in line with the common way of thinking about language during his time. Given the importance of this aspect, this study, entitled "Semantic Relations in Al-Muhassal fi Sharh al-Mufassal by Alam al-Din al-Lawraqi (d. 661 AH)," seeks to elucidate the semantic thought of one of the prominent figures of the seventh century AH, Alam al-Din al-Lawraqi, through his valuable book, which is a commentary on one of the most famous grammatical works, Al-Mufassal fi San'at al-I'rab by al-Zamakhshari (d. 538 AH).

The study aims to identify and analyze the most prominent semantic relations in Al-Muhassal fi Sharh al-Mufassal. The nature of the research necessitated dividing it into an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. The first section addresses the phenomenon of homonymy, and the second section is dedicated to the study of synonymy. The study concludes with a summary of the most significant findings.
